Kanye West Storms the VMAs Stage During Taylor Swift’s Speech

Leave it to Kanye West to produce one of the most infamous moments in VMAs history before the 2009 show was even an hour old. It happened after Taylor Swift’s victory in the Best Female Video category for “You Belong To Me,” which beat out Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” Just moments after Swift accepted the Moonman and began her acceptance speech, Kanye West stormed the stage, taking the microphone from Swift to announce Beyoncé deserved the award.

“Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!,” Kanye shouted to a mortified Swift and the speechless audience. And as quickly as he ran onstage — MTV cut away to show Pink, and when they flashed back to Swift, West already had the mic in his hand — he was off, leaving a shocked Swift in his wake.

Everyone at the Radio City Music Hall looked stunned, as the cameras captured an astonished and horrified Beyoncé still in her seat. Soon after, the audience gave a standing ovation in support of Swift. To add insult to injury, after Kanye handed the microphone back to Swift, her time was up, and MTV cut to a video featuring Tracy Morgan and Eminem.

According to sources at the VMAs, Swift was seen hysterically crying backstage after Kanye’s outburst, making it convenient that her performance of “You Belong to Me,” which immediately followed the acceptance speech, was prerecorded. Wale, who is serving as MC for the house band, told the crowd, “You can’t fault a man for speaking his mind,” which was promptly met by boos from the Radio City Music Hall crowd. According to our sources inside Radio City, Kanye was promptly tossed from the VMAs after interrupting Swift’s speech.

Taylor Swift looked like an angel who saw a very happy bunny once she got it and then that douchebag had to ruin it for her. What is even worse it looked like Beyonce' wasn't bothered by his comments but more flattered by it. Kanye should be driven out of the music industry all together. I feel so bad for Taylor Swift. No one deserves to have something like that ruined for them.

Just saw this chump on Leno. He made himself look like even more of an ass by not having a good response. He just sat there and mumbled for about 5 minutes. Then he got up, and did this thing that now days is called "singing". It was unbearable.

whats not been mentioned is how by doing this the clown upstaged not only the girl but also the michael jackson tribute.

That this is actually a story that anyone cares about is depressing. It's all so meaningless...

The thing is a lot of people agree with him. You can dislike Kanye but at least he makes his own music, like it or not. Taylor Swift is manufactured and only moderately talented. Kanye was wrong to do what he did but if anyone should be run out of the music industry it should be the performers that don't write or produce. All the likes of Swift, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne and the lot are is attractive karaoke performers.

Taylor Swift writes her own material as does Avril Lavigne. Beyonce claims co-writing credits for her songs, but there is a question mark about what she contributes. Miley Cyrus, I agree with you about.

This is true. And Miley Cyrus is a Disney tool, not a human being. Also, not attractive at all.
