I suspected there would be panic amongst the other hosts. It's hardly surprising that it would put a fright into any of them.
Be prepared for mass deletions. It'll be a case of grab it while you can.

Fileserve have also put the block on downloading from others:

FileServe can only be used to download and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.
If this file belongs to you, please login to download it directly from your file manager.

    Re: Megaupload shut down

This is the fault of the robo posters who have been polluting message boards for the last few years. Somehow, these fools have conned themselves into believing they could have a career as an internet poster. The post and repost and repost on every site they can find. (Which is one of the reasons I like this place -- no robo posters). The file hosts like (m)oron, Vilesonic, Vilepost and the like catered to these people. I suppose the silver lining in this is that file sharing will hopefully be exactly that again, sharing. No guys in ther parents' basement, writing scripts to post while are away at school.

    Rant over.

^^ Too bad. I'm not aware of any of those sites being anywhere near as good as Megaupload/Megaporn.

Maybe torrents are the future in this particular situation.

    Re: Megaupload shut down

Global Internet censorship is here. SOPA and PIPA have been stopped (at least for now) in the United States, but a treaty known as ACTA (the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) is far worse than either of them. ACTA was quietly signed by Barack Obama back on October 1st, 2011 and most Americans have never even heard of it. But it could mean the end of the Internet as we know it. This new treaty gives foreign governments and copyright owners incredibly broad powers. If you are alleged to have violated a copyright, your website can be shut down without a trial and police may even show up at your door to take you to prison. It doesn't even have to be someone in the United States that is accusing you. It could just be a foreign government or a copyright owner halfway across the world that alleges that you have violated a copyright. It doesn't matter. So far, the U.S., the EU and seven other nations have signed on to ACTA, and the number of participants is expected to continue to grow. The "powers that be" are obsessed with getting Internet censorship one way or another. The open and free Internet that you and I have been enjoying for all these years is about to change, and not for the better.

    ORON may be gone

A U.S District Court has ordered the Oron cyberlocker to settle its copyright infringement dispute with adult studio Liberty Media. The file-hosting site claimed that settlement negotiations had never been finalized but yesterday the court decided otherwise. Oron will now have to pay Liberty Media at least $550,000 with additional attorney’s fees to be decided at a later date. In the meantime, Oron’s service remains down.
