    New Attachment Host

Not that I used the prev attachment procedure alot, Iv noticed thrs a new "host" ala Image$hack for all the images we choose ta attach.
Well Image$hack TOS clearly states no nudity, pornography, or pics of the like, so Im a little confused as to using them as a host ? Dont the posts in certain sections here have all of that ?

Just wondering but not something I plan on utilizing neway

    TY

Thats a good question, I just read it and at least it sounds to me like not only will they delete the image but they might ban the domain the image was used on, that sounds like we could all end up getting fucked real soon.
All the people who used it to make posts will lose their images which mean the mods will be deleting a ton of dead/broken links/posts.

if anyone has a answer to these questions, i'd liked to hear it.

Sadly you guys are correct. Once again the admins have failed to anticipate correctly. The day will come. . . .SOON. . . .when any images uploaded will be seen as frogs. The more advanced forums have already banned them.

A better site has no such rules and is the host of choice for most of the adult sites. No child porn is basically the only rule. Another advantage is that you can upload multiple images at the same time.

yeah, I doubt image shack will take any extreme action, they will most likely just ban this forum from using there hosting service, like they have with many other nudy forums.
over on the phun forum we use imagevenue and have done for a while, maybe it will be worth while switchin to them b4 we have an insane amount of dead links and evil yellow frogs!

The thing I don't like about using the host is that you don't know how many views something gets.

I like to see if alot of people look at my posts, if they do I can post more of the same (if I have any). If nobody looks at them, I don't need to bother posting more for nobody to look at.

    Just my two cents

That might be an advantage for some people who have no problems to let display many (40 - over 100) hosted preview-pics on one page. But for dial-up users (like me) with a relatively slow computer this is certainly a disadvantage, because there is no chance to let display them for us. All we have to do is waiting a really long time and after the page is finally displayed it is full of red crosses instead of preview thumbnails.
If this continues all I see is that we end up as every other forum, named with threads full of hosted files that will die after a while and moderators having too much work with cleaning up the mess...
The only cure is to get our old conditions back, named the one and the only upload feature to the own several HDs of our board.
I heard now already from different sources that having multiple HDs running simultaneously IS possible; I keep on believing in this...
Just a suggestion Horsty. Personally I'll be damned if I want somebody deleting my pics. I also have a slower older computer and I also have dial-up and I have had no problem with ImageVenue. You have to copy and paste, but I find that no bid deal and then I can see the preview before I submit it.

However, I agree with you that we would all be much better off if we get back to the old ways.

    EXACTLY!!!
This is one further very important (perhaps the most important) point also for me. This feature was the fun & satisfaction factor! I loved it to look back after some days so that I can see how often my pics are viewed or how often my files are downloaded. 100 is for me the magic number; when I saw a pic from me over 100 times viewed I felt very happy and that (!!!) is the motivation to post more in this thread. Now these hosted files have for me a kind of sterile nature; they are there and nothing changes, nothing tells me anything...

Sorry mate, I do not follow you here; can you express it again in a different form please?

I was talking about after everything is already submitted. I was imagining that one page of a thread has e.g. 20 or more posts and each of these posts has around 40 hosted preview images (this sounds exaggerated but is easily possible). For letting display this page I have to wait a long time (much longer than before as it was always around 20 seconds) and surely not all preview images will be shown, maybe only around 60% of them. Ok, my example says now 800 images, but also with fewer like e.g. 100 it would be a similar problem...

Thanks idspud for agreeing with that it would be better to get back to the old ways; hopefully our words will cause something. Unfortunately I have no news yet, but soon...

Actually, I gotta agree with you both on that one. Since alot of my fake posts followed a "theme", they weren't really for mainstream consumption but there was something satisfying about seeing the download hit for an individual picture and knowing that those people WANTED to see a picture of that type.

I agree with pretty much everything that you guys have said so far. I always checked the count on the pics that I posted to see what guys were looking for. For me that is crucial. I have over 3000 posts and on so many threads that I can't count them anymore and the number of pics that I posted was always contingent on the number of guys who wanted to see them.

Horsty is right. It is a bit of a thrill to post a pic that is viewed hundreds of times. Sometimes you find a pic or two on the web and you just know that it will be a big hit so you rush to the forum to see if you can be the guy who posts it first.

For me this has been the best forum on the web for two big reasons. 1 - each girl has her own thread. You find that thread and you find every pic and video that have been posted from the beginning of the thread. You don't have to search the entire forum for the multiple threads on that girl. 2 - the forum hosts the pictures so that a month or two down the road there are no dead links. Nothing makes me madder in searching another forum for pics than to find an older one that I really want and then find that it is no longer available. That is especially true of files and videos.

I post a lot of full sets of pictures. Like Horsty I have a slower computer with dialup and it is work to get them on here (but a lot of fun too). I'll be damned if I want to go to all of that work just to see it evaporate a month or two later because most of the guys have already accessed it. What about newer members? Nothing could be less fun that having to go back and repost.

I know of no other forum that has those two advantages so that is problematical. However, if the admin does not get the board back to something more like normal I guess that I would have to say that I have posted my last pic.

I must agree also. The thrill of seeing one of my posts downloaded hundreds or even 1000+ times is something special. Without it I have no particular desire to post.

Posting from a dial up connection that races at 2-3 KBps is a complete pain in the arse, but seeing how many times that posting has been viewed (even if there are no replies or thanks posted) makes it a worthwhile pain in the arse! I am a member at more than a few boards/forums, none of which have the same "feel" this, so how do we go about getting it back to how it was? What are the real issues, storage, bandwidth, hosting expenses? Surely we can make a plan?
I feel the same way about Image$hack and Rapidshare as Bill (sorry about the stolen puke ) feels about his beloved WinRAR ...

Believe me hopper my friend, please, that some very experienced and capable people are working on that already since some time. I even suggested already asking my former supervisor for more help and inspiration. Things are moving and are in the minds of many very fine people already, we must wait and stay in patience...

Please be patient. I suspect some, if not all, of the issues will be addressed soon.

While significant progress was made on the server disk situation, there was not enough time to finish the whole process. A safe stopping point was selected, and the remainder of the process will likely be attempted in 14-16 days.

While this might seem like a long time, it is the best that can be worked out at this time.
