She's oh so much hotter than Linda Hamilton, but still does a good job at pulling off the tough chick role.

Actually, not. Lena Headey looks great (except for the tattoos, which they cover up for the TV show), but she doesn't have anywhere near the acting chops, or dedication, that Linda Hamilton brought to the role.

As you can see, Linda went through quite the physical transformation for this part, getting lean and ripped, ending up at the same weight as in the first movie but adding 15 lbs. of muscle to a thin frame. While Lena Headey also has a thin frame, the only physical transformation I've seen from her is getting someone to draw pretty pictures on her skin, and then getting someone else to cover them up:

The extent of Lena's transformation for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles seems to be limited to hair, wardrobe, and makeup (note the makeup covering her tattoos, and a distinct lack of muscular definition):

Even the newspapers are having a hard time seeing Lena as a proper Sarah Connor.

Hamilton turned the character into a “butt-kicking inspiration to millions of women,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

So it's not about whether a thin woman is more or less capable of playing an action hero than a beefier one, and it's not about whether it's unfeminist to suggest that Headey's body shape might hinder her ability to fight for survival, or even just beat up robots.

I’d like to give her time - and some pasta - to help her grow into her jeans. Headey looks remarkably like actress Lara Flynn Boyle. She’s a twig of an action heroine.

And Lena's response is basically that she won't do it on her own time or dime:

If they were going to give me a month, and a trainer every day, and a chef, then it would be fantastic... it's a TV show, for God's sake!

Anorexia is something Lena can manage on her own, though.

First off fuck a bunch of crap about Lena needs to be more masculine to be Sarah Connor. And second, everybody is acting like Linda Hamilton bulked up to Lou Ferigno size or something. Just look at the Linda Hamilton pictures. She's a fucking 80 lb twig with a little muscle definition. Lena is actually bigger than Hamilton. The pictures don't lie.

Lena Headey (born 3 October 1973) is an English actress. Headey's performance in a one-off show when she was 17 caught the attention of a casting agent, who took a photo and asked her to audition and eventually she got a supporting role alongside Jeremy Irons and Ethan Hawke in the 1992 British drama film Waterland and went on to appear with higher-profile actors in major films such as The Remains of the Day (1993), The Jungle Book (1994), Onegin (1999) and Aberdeen (2000).

After working steadily as an actress getting small and supporting roles in films throughout the 1990s, she found fame for her lead performances in big-budget films that became well-known like the fantasy film The Brothers Grimm (2005), in which she acted opposite Matt Damon and Heath Ledger, the action period film 300 (2007), portraying the role of Queen Gorgo and the adventure and biopic feature The Red Baron ( 2008 ). Most recently she played the role of Monica in the fantasy adventure film Mariah Mundi and the Midas Box, which is scheduled for release in 2013.

She is known for playing the starring role Sarah Connor on Fox's television spin-off of James Cameron's popular Terminator film series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008–09). She currently appears as Cersei Lannister in HBO's television series Game of Thrones (2011–present), that has received acclaim from both critics and audiences.
