Brittany Toolis joined the News 9 team as a multi-media journalist in February 2021. She came from a station in Rockford, Illinois. In Rockford, Brittany covered an array of news topics, from interviewing a Presidential Cabinet Member, extreme weather events, and hours long hostage situations. She also covered the Chicago Bears for a weekly pregame show.

Brittany's first on air position was in sports as a sideline reporter for the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate to the Chicago Blackhawks. There she would conduct live interviews after the 1st period, and end of the game. She would also write and co-host a pregame show, outling the night's matchup, highlight any fun player stories or accomplishments, and analyze play. Hockey is her favorite sport, and is ready to talk about the game at the drop of a puck.

Brittany was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, and yes that makes her a proud White Sox fan. For high school, she attended St. Ignatius College Prep. in downtown Chicago. She then went to Eastern Illinois University for both undergraduate and graduatre school.

Brittany earned two Bachelor's Degrees, one in Communication Studies, with a focus in interpersonal communication. The other is in Sociology. She then was accepted into the Communication Studies Graduate Program. During graduate school, Brittany focused her studies on fandom and what creates the bond between a fan and their favorite team. She also taught Public Speaking to undergrads while in the graduate program.

When Brittany is not working, she likes to workout and stay active. On lazier days, she likes to curl up on the couch with her fur baby, Ophelia and watch some of her favorite shows, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development, The Office, and Bob's Burgers.
