Goodbye Rapidshare (for me anyway)

Guys,

I guess your all very aware of the recent activity over at RS, there has been lots of announcements and changes, they have now released details of their new packages.

Because my account has over 50Gb of storage on RS, the default new package for me is RapidBig.
RapidBig is up to 200Gb of storage & 20 GB of traffic/day. (I hardly ever DL these days).
It's all very confusing and from what I have read myself at RS and numerous discussions on other forums, I will be paying a fortune to host files on RS!

If I buy the new Rapids to keep my account alive at the current storage level, the minimum I can buy is 400 Rapids at 4,99 euro's.
RapidBig uses 78 Rapids a day = 400/4,99 = 1.25 euros = £1.03 x 78 x 30 = nearly £24 per month.

Agreed it will be cheaper if I buy 5,000 (49,75 euros) or 20,000 (199.0 euros) Rapids, but at 78 Rapids per day, I would have to buy 28,470 Rapids for one year.
The cheapest option is a rolling 20,000 Rapids which will suffice for 256 days (20,000 Rapids / 78 Rapids per day) @ 199,00 euros, that's £165 for less than a year!

I am not prepared to pay £165 to store files for 256 days, before my current converted Rapids run out I will move all my files to Hotfile & SharingMatrix (soon to be Filesonic).

good riddance i say though. i've hated rapishit for years. there are plenty of free hosts that can do all RS does and some that don't even required signing up. the best imo is megaporn.com. better than all the rest.

I have to agree ... most things i got off of rapidshare or tried to load were damaged files ... no thank you...
