Unnecessary Behavior over Carrie Prejean!!!

Wow. I've been a member here for 3 years and have never been scolded like this before. If I broke or violated any rules I truly apologize, however I do not feel that my actions in any way warranted such a disrespectful response. I was not trying to express any personal "political" views, or spread hate or slander, I was simple trying to "Talk about celebrities." which happens to be a description of that area of the forum. As I previously posted, which was deleted w/o warning, I was unaware that there was a section on this board for debates. Over the years I've noticed threads filled with comments from members (most notably that Britany Spears one) and assumed talk amongst members was allowed in Celebrity threads as long as they didn't start any flame wars.

I am disappointed that the posts I spent time creating were deleted w/o warning and I was berated with 's for a simple mistake, for a first time mistake, for an understandable mistake. I thought my contributions to this great forum and it's dedicated members warranted more respect, especially by a moderator.

If me expressing my opinions results in a ban then so be it. However, I was truly upset my robeef's comments which seemed direct at me and felt the need to express it.

So I've only recently starting posting (more) regularly so a little behind in members but is robeef a moderator? If so then that isn't the way to conduct yourself and gives members one of two views either 1. It's how things are done around here if a mod can do it OR 2. members don't come back because they fear beind droned at. I see your point Phree, there are ways for things to be handled by mods, that isn't the way.

Guys, Robeef is absolutely correct. The picture threads are for the pictures...not for long discussions. That is why the Member's Chat Room is here. Discuss what Ms Prejeans did in THAT forum, not the picture forum.

You are all acting like you weren't asked once or twice or three times to move the discussion elsewhere. SOMETIMES you guys don't listen to us until we whop a 2x4 upside your heads to get your attention...it was Robeef's turn with the 2x4.

We don't mean to hurt your feelings...but give US a break, too.

I'm not in anyway saying he wasn't correct I'm saying the MANNER in which he brought himself forward was unacceptable for a moderator. Someone who is supposed to help keep order of the forum isn't someone who should write posts like that one towards other forum members, it comes across as agressive and I've seen big forums come to nothing then eventually close due to poor moderators and their inability to keep up some sort of decent manner when trying to address an issue. I know how frustrating it can be getting forum members to listen to certain rules, God knows I spent enough time trying to address issues but I never once resorted to that kind of post because that's not what forum members want to see. Patience, regardless of how long, is needed. Instead of writing a post like that, why not have a sticky thread? Look into the rules and see if there is something which can re-written in order for members to see where they gone wrong. Send out a mass email explaining the recent spur in rule breaking, off topic posts? Doing it the way it's been done will just cause some members to laugh towards the moderator and then decide to keep up what annoys them so much. Sure they could be banned but before long a forum full of banned members isn't something you guys want I'm sure. As I said I'm not saying he wasn't correct he was completely in the right, but the way he came across wasn't.

In a perfect world, sugababe, I would agree with you, and I'm sure robeef would, too. But we are a little more freewheeling than more forums...and we have HUGE databases to keep track of, what with the Celebs, the Internet Models, AND the Fakes forums. We have a LOT of data to keep track of, and to keep clean, and to keep unreplicated, as well as model's/celebrity age issues. I think we do a damn fine job. But I'm a patient man, and I blow up occasionally. We try like hell to be professional AND friendly, and some people won't accept that. We don't want to hold people's hands or deal with mass PMings. Frankly, I know we are ALL to busy for that. Everyone here is, by definition of an adult board, an adult. All we ask is that they act like it, and take what little bit of instructions or reprimands we dole out like it.

And to consider OUR situation if you think we ARE acting less than professionally.

Am I right in believing the mods moderate the entire board? I can understand why it's a tough job if that's the case, I would have thought splitting up moderators into seperate sections would have been an easier thing to do for a large forum like this one.

No excuses...we all have to vent...I've done it myself. It'll happen again. Hopefully, our membership reading this will be understanding of our humanness and give us a little slack on the rope.

All Mods moderate the whole board...but unofficially, we tend to stay in our favorite forums. I have NO idea how those guys keep track of what has and hasn't been posted in the Internet Model's forum. Boggles my mind.

Let me say this....there are a LOT of members that have gained our trust over the years, and that makes our job doable...if people didn't care, we wouldn't be able to operate the way we do now...and why we can get a bit insane with those who don't care.

EDIT: Afterthought...I'm NOT saying PhreeCeleb or sugababe are amoungst those who "don't care". I'm talking about those who refuse to read the rules....those who post garbage just to get the free pictures. Those who call us everything but human when we insist they follow the rules. Those are the people that we use all our "niceness" on EVERY SINGLE DAY so that relatively innocent members end up catching shit at the end of the shift.

sugababy, I appreciate your comments. I don't want my original post to be misconstrued; I TRULY APPRECIATE AND COMMEND ALL THE HARD WORK ALL OF YOU MODERATORS DO HERE AT The FamousBoard. Perhaps it's not said often enough, but I am continually amazed at how "tidy", regulated and up-to-date each thread is. I cannot begin to image just how much time and effort you guys (most notably butler bill, Turtle and MARKK) put into maintaining this place, as well as the dedicated members who post often, and comment even more often. Their contributions also often go unrecognized. So I would also like to take a second to thank them all for their time and effort. Together, you guys make this forum by far THE BEST kept board on the net.

With that being said, the issue I had was a one time event that was the culmination of frustration and a rule violation which was quickly resolved via PM by me and robeef. I want to apologize for airing out my grievances on the board before trying to discuss the situation via PM first.
