Rigg is a Brit actress of the highest caliber, easily most known as Ms.Emma Peel from 1965-67 on the cult British TV series "The Avengers"(61-69). Raised in India, she speaks fluent Hindi. Her film work includes the James Bond "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"(1969), portraying a woman that Bond actually marries; the George C. Scott picture "The Hospital"(71); "Theatre of Blood'(73), which she considers her best film work, co-starring here with long-time friend Vincent Price; and Agatha Christie's "Evil Under the Sun"(82), for which she received rave acclaim. After leaving "The Avengers", for what has been reported as 'contract difficulties', Rigg's following TV work included "Mother Love"(89), for the BBC, for which she received the BAFTA, the British equivalent of our Oscar; taking over the hosting mantle from Price for the British anthology series "Mystery!"(89-03); "Rebecca"(97-as Mrs.Danvers), for which she received the EMMY for Supporting Actress; and as the title character for the BBC's "Mrs.Bradley Mysteries"(2000). However, it's her stage work that is revered most highly, including being part of the Royal Shakespeare Company(59-64); starring in the British West End 1986 production of Stephen Sondheim's "Follies"; and receiving a Tony for Best Actress in 1993's "Medea". She is the Chancellor of the University of Stirling, and is currently appearing in the Old Vic production "All About My Mother", adapted from the Pedro Almodovar film of the same name.
