Ashlyn Martin
Ashlyn Martin (born March 20, 1946 in London, England) is the stage name of Laura Lynn Hale, an American model and actress who was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for its April 1964 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by Pompeo Posar and Mario Casilli. She also appeared in the July 1963 issue of Playboy in The Bunnies, a pictorial, as well as in a photograph dated 1960 (along with Playmate/Bunny Patti Reynolds) in The Bunny Years (page 56) by Kathryn Leigh Scott. In The Playmate Book, Hugh Hefner says that Laura's pseudonym was inspired by a character in the Ernest Hemingway novel The Sun Also Rises, most likely Brett Ashley.
She also worked as a Bunny at the Chicago Playboy Club.

Man! Again, like Jo Collins (Playmate of the Year for '64), this girl is so real, compared to the contemporary mannequins of porn mags, that she could have been the girl down the block! The photography here is even handled better than the Collins shoot-and the furniture/decor seems even more real for the times (my parent's sofa resembled the one in the first pics!) If you combine the furniture here (and those great grey walls) with some of the "Van Gogh-like" paintings and Scandinavian Rya rug (a common Nordik shag of the day) in the Collins spread, you'd have the perfect retro pad-not so museum retro but more subtle, still 60s. It's amazing how, suddenly, Playboy was shooting beautiful, girl-next-doors, after all those 50s-early 60s "wallflowers". I agree with the comment that her stage name was inspired by Brett Ashley in the Hemingway novellete. "Ashlyn Martin" uses the playmate's middle name, Lynn, the Hemingway character, and a popular car of the day (think James Bond "Goldfinger"-same year: the Aston Martin).
