The Football Thread

After the Hillsborough disaster there became a mad rush to make the UK
football stadiums all seater and by 2010 they have pretty well succeeded in
their aims.

The giant American stadiums are all seater .. they chorused...
what they forgot to say is that the climate in Britain in winter is a lot different
than the climate in Florida or Austin or New Jersey.

Our winters are cold, often with biting winds.... not the kind of weather you
want to be sat down in, you want to be stood up, moving... stamping your feet to keep warm.

Its time stands were brought back... knowledge and technology have moved on
they could build the stands in such a way that there is absolutely no possibility of
a crowd surge or build up.
The stands physically would be much stronger too... stands could be fitted in the
entire ground with perfect safety, but of course there will still be some seats left for the
elderly and those who prefer to sit at football matches.

In the 60s and 70s it was the guys in the stands at the stretford end who were the
heart and soul of Old Trafford and they made the "Trafford Roar "
they made more noise than the rest of the ground put together.

Come on, its time to put the life and soul back into all of UK s football grounds
rip out those poxy plastic seats and bring back the stands !
