I may have found the cause of the FF Save Image As issue

i just noticed two separate things i had noticed before, but not connected before.

when one tries to right-click on an image & clicks "Save Image As", FF wants to save the image as HTML text. that got me thinking, why on earth would it want to save an image as text? then i thought, maybe the board is the "problem", not FF...

then i got the idea to right-click on an image and look at its properties, & sure enough it had "HTML text" (aka "Alternate Text"). i believe this is an HTML feature where one can attach text to an image so that when one hovers over the image a popup displays the text. (like a tag).
so then i checked another image, another, & another and they all have html text "tags"!

so maybe if an admin can disable HTML text on images attached to/with the board (not an external image host of course), maybe the problem will be resolved.

i don't know if an admin can disable/remove HTML text from pics already posted on the board (retroactive), and if not, then perhaps it could be disabled for future posts.

Yes, it's definitely always been board problem specific. Every other site I visit, the right click option has always worked with FF. When I had the FF 1.0, it worked here as well, but all the updates by FF since has left the right click ineffective here unless you get the appropriate plug in.

In any case if you click, Ctrl. + s. the problem is avoided and you can save the images.

However if you use Firefox and copy any of the pics I loaded you will notice you can "save as" the original way....reason being of the way that I load them on FF differently....just to confuse more

No I still use imagizo always.......but when loading a pic I click imagizmo on the very bottom of the page under the submit button and then load and then copy and paste the url.....that is why most of the time the pic size is not visable not the "attached files" inscription is not there...........I find it far faster when loading multiple pics.

well i use ff and don't have this issue
it was confirmed a long, long time ago that it is a firefox issue in relation to this board alone. not everyone that uses firefox experiences it, but a lot do.

You have a link to or name of such a plugin?
i never did understand what he meant there either. i don't know of any "plugin" (perhaps he meant extension) that would "fix" the issue.

maybe if mike would upgrade the forum software to phpbb3 it would fix the problem.

To answer sholibhak, no I don't have a link or name of such plugin/extension. I don't need it or want it. Why bother? I just click File and then Save Page as... Of course one can always use the Ctrl. + s.

with the menu editor extension you can add "Save Page As" to the right-click context menu.
All of this stuff has been discussed before. Some of it multiple times.
