    how to save streaming video?

is there a way to save streaming video within windows media player,or is the media stored somewhere in a temproary folder that i can access? or is it possible to force the media to open in a different player? i notice that windows media player classic has a "file" and then "save as" option, whereas the current windows media player doesn't. thanks.

    Streaming Video

    Download RealPlayer (its free)
When you start to watch a video move the pointer to the top rh corner of the video,
a panel will appear asking if you wish to download this video----- clicky.
When you wish to watch it go into Real Player Library find it-----clicky.
    Works for me

i hear ya. i work with "illerate" computer users all the time. i'm a computer technician.

i could boil it down to non-geek speak:

    1. download & install firefox. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

    2. download & install mplayer plugin/extension for firefox. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/m...4.xpi?download

    3. find a video, click on it to bring it up & it will come up automatically with the mplayer plugin.

    4. right-click & click save as "blah blah blah".

also, i highly recommend using smplayer, it is very simple to install & use. get it here: http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/down...d95553f434e9f7

(the windows download is the very first one listed on the page).

that is cuz the extension (.xpi) is for firefox. you have install extensions (aka addons) from within firefox.

    ugggggh

firefox 3 implemented a new security feature: secure addons. if the addon developer/author doesn't include a secure authentication for their addon, firefox will complain with that message. (by the way, it is a warning, not an error).

to disable it, go to Options --> Security --> uncheck "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons".

then try installing the mplayer plugin again. there is one other possibility, but don't worry if that doesn't work, as it is simple. (i'll try to KISS).
