Yes it is a newbie restriction.
You need to make a valid, on topic, post of a picture or link. (Which you have done, apart from the hardcore!)
Once you have done this you may need to log out and re-enter the site to see the board in all its glory.
If you still can't see the pics, then your browser security settings may be set too high.
Try lowering them and trying again.
