What do you do when you get your computer fixed?

This is probably a dumb question, but I've got to get my computer fixed and I've got a large collection of fakes, so my question is should I take them off my computer? I'm just thinking the staff who works there is probably going to go through my computer and see them. I don't really care all that much if they do, but I'd rather they didn't. It would be a pain to take them off the computer and put them back on again when it's fixed though because the computer is hard to use right now.

I save all of my stuff to disc.
I start a burn before I leave for work and when I get back it's done.

I have a friend who is a computer genius, so I just give it to him. In fact, he built my computer. Anyway, one time I had a bitch of a virus, so he backed up all my files and was surpised at the amount of porn I had. Ultimately, he didn't care much and I think the same is true of any computer tech guy. Try to remove it if can, otherwise what are you gonna do?

i fix it. its what i do for a living.

users that give a damn should always have their data backed up. then, in cases like this, you could just delete the data off your HDD & then add it back from your backups after you get your PC back.

Absolutely!!! I back up my site to disc every month. Never trust computers not to break. never trust hosts to stay in business.

If it won't even boot up and you still need to get an outside source to fix it, I'd take out the hard drive and ask them to fit in another.
You can always make the original drive a slave later and rescue what's on it.

If it still boots up, you could save stuff onto a USB drive if you have one. You can buy the small laptop drives quite cheaply now.

i've got a secondary HDD for all my personal data. none of my data is saved on the HDD with my OS installed. that way, if the OS goes to shit then my data is unaffected. i also have the same plan though!
