The chart-topping British singer is being treated for septicaemia.

She lost her baby on Tuesday after six months of pregnancy.

The 25-year-old had been had been recovering at her home in Gloucestershire with her boyfriend — 32-year-old builder Sam Cooper — when she was yesterday taken to hospital by ambulance, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.

Her publicist said she is "responding well" to treatment and that her condition "continues to improve".

"Lily thanks everyone for their messages of support and again asks that she and partner Sam Cooper be left alone whilst she recovers," the publicist said.

Hours before the hospital emergency, Allen wrote on her Twitter page: "I'm still very sick but the messages are helping me to be stronger. Thank you x x."

Septicaemia is a bacterial infection of the blood that requires antibiotics.

Symptoms include fever, shivering, delerium and even loss of consciousness.
