Record number of online users

I wonder what was going on yesterday that the number of people on this site hit 1,824. That spike is so far above the normal 200-300 that it will probably never be topped. Must have been a lot of guys looking for the Scarlett Johansson pics.

We were discussing that number in the Mods forum, but your suggestion makes more sense than anything that we came up with.

I'm not sure I believe that suggestion myself, since it seems odd that all those people would show up at the same time. I'm wondering how long the spike in usage lasted.

The Scarlett Johansson theory can be checked if number of views to her thread are available before and after the peak day, to see whether it received far more than its fair share in the increased number of visitors. Another possible but unlikely explanation would be a DDoS attack.

However, what concerns me is that participation in sections such as this one is very poor, with many threads attracting no replies.

Things have certainly slowed down since the crash. I'm sure we can rebuild though.
