The answer is at the top of the Forum Index page.
    Uploading attachements temporarily not possible.
Getting a new HDD in few days.
It may be that the "few days" have arrived! Just be patient....

forgive me for sounding retarded.....so what you guys are saying then Bill and GR is that when the new board is working correctly it will accept the file extension types that have been deactivated (ie: .wav, .jpeg, etc..)??

if not, i dont know what type of files we will be posting. these make up a good percentage of all video/ image files out there as you know...

Please don't take me wrong guys, but this thread is really funny...

I honestly admit that I am not an expert, but I'll try it with a metaphor:
In around fall 2004 there was an empty bottle, which is now full of smarties. But many more smarties like to go in this bottle but there is no more space for them anymore. The new smarties are very unhappy... So the big Smarty-admin has now more or less 2 possibilities. Either to empty the bottle by throwing all the old smarties away, or to take another bigger bottle that get filled with all the old smarties. Thus, all the old smarties are stored again and the new smarties are not unhappy anymore because the new bigger bottle has more than enough space for them too.

In case of our forum here, I would say that the first possibility is not so good, because all our uploaded stuff would be gone forever. So I guess the current actions have something to do with the second possibility.

    Patience is the key...

Would be very funny if the new HD would not accept the file extensions like .jpg, .rar, .mpg, etc.
Mmh, I bet a quarter it will accept them all. Think not?

To the best of our (limited) knowledge, all will be as it was except we will have more room. If there are any other changes everyone will be informed.

Nah. Then everyone would think that we were out of business. Besides, this way we all have something to bitch about in lines like this one

Well I know for certain you average server hard disk drive wont accept the file extension *.smarties!

I'm well interested to know how much space is required to archive all the files and text that exists on this forum, are we talkin terabytes here?!

Are you good at math? I have posted 4350 MB. I have made 4.51% of the posts on the board. My average post is probably larger than most because I post a lot of clips. How much space is needed? Thats about 100,000MB, whatever that means in those funny words people use to measure this stuff. Since we need MORE space it will be an even bigger number :P

Hey, there was a time I was a math genius.
Any corrections or comments to the following are very welcome:
If I see it right we have this equation:
    x 4.51% = 4.35GB 100%
    => x = 96.452GB
That would mean that the old disc has a capacity of around 100GB (as Bill already found out).
And the disc was full after around 1 year. So if the new disc has a capacity of around 1TB, we can post like mad for the next 9 years. So I guess it would be better to get a 10TB disc, and we would have space enough for the next 90 years. Thus, it would be highly improbable that we would again experience a disc change. Or do we have a user who is around 10 years old and likes to become 100?
