Yeah, those were the good old days, it appears. This made me think of Lake Bell, because spiderham8 just posted some pics of her wearing a top that showed her flat, tanned abs -- except for the distracting blatant display of bright orange bra straps. Rather spoiled the outfit.

Bras weren't invented until last century (as a less damaging alternative to corsets, which occasionally killed their wearers by vigorously forcing them into an hourglass figure). Before this recent fad for undergarments to reshape the figure, women got along just fine. While bras are supposed to "support" the breasts, they actually block exercise of the chest muscles from the natural motion of the breasts. But hey, Victoria's Secret, Playtex, Maidenform, and all those other companies have "proven" that consumers need to buy their products. Right? And Sharon Stone must be a cyborg because she's over 50, has apparently never owned a bra, and doesn't seem to be suffering for the lack.

Oh, there's also one other thing. Bras squeeze the mammary glands, limiting the flow of lymph. As breasts are skin organs, lymph is the primary way the immune system eliminates toxins from them. Breast cancer has increased dramatically in North America and Europe, and other parts of the world are catching up to us as they become more "civilized". Yet in the poorest parts of the world breast cancer is relatively rare -- and so are bras.
