I'm using Bulk Image Downloader right now, but I'm beginning to hate it.
Can't understand why.
I couldn't be without it.
There's a couple of Firefox plug-ins that are worth a look -
'DownThemAll' & 'ImageHost Grabber'
'ImageHost Grabber' will grab the entire page - 'DownThemAll' lets you pick groups (depending on the imagehost used) of pics to download
(tip: for most of the auto Downloaders to work properly you will need to have Microsoft .NET Framework installed, you can find it in 'Windows Update')
'ImageHost Grabber' works well for me! The only thing I have a gripe about is the fact that you are supposed to be able to rip an entire thread, from page 1 to the end, in one go, but I can't seem to get it to do that!! Bloody technology...
I like the sound of 'DownThemAll', though opo. It would be handy to be able to pick and choose a bit easier than going through the list of images, like I do on IHG. I will have to give it a go!
I use ImageHost Grabber, but can get but one page at a time
I don't like them. I stick to downloading archives. Less hassle & frustration.
Imagehost grabber is what I mainly use. It works with almost every image host I've come across. I was able to go in and rip 5 celebs in one try. With each celeb having an average of least 8 pages. Down Them All is ok. But it doesn't work with a lot of the now popular hosts. Like imgbox isn't supported. Which imagebam, and imgbox are the most used hosts now. Also seems to be slower than Imagehost grabber. I have bulk downloader. I hate it. Too much work to get the pics off a page. And it only works if the pics or in a gallery.
Downloading archives is ok. But it only works if this IS an archive of what you looking for.
Everything beats saving the pics one by one.

Three years later, what downloaders are people using? Especially anyone with Macs. Firefox updates it's versions so fast that the developers can't keep up so I stay behind on my FF version (44.0.2 and the newest is 47). I use a very old one called iScooper (Mac only), that is defunct in development and maintenance. I just keep a copy of it to add to new OS versions. When that doesn't work, I use Outwit Images but FF doesn't support it anymore and it's gotten much more difficult to use with it's stand alone version. I did use jDownloader (free and multi-platform), but it's not scraping any sites I've tried lately (last 6 months). I use(d) the free version.
And what is downloading archives that someone mentioned earlier in this thread? They said it was less hassle.
I am downloading galleries, not threads. Not sure there is an application for Macs that downloads a whole thread. Sometimes, Outwit downloads more photos than are visible and will go on and on until it finds no more.
I still just use Imagehost Grabber on FF
Thanks for the replies and notice of ImageHost Grabber. It works on some sites and not others, like other scrapers. But, it seems it's not in development or maintenance anymore and supposedly won't work on FF versions newer than 45. I saw the last, previous version wasn't for FF version 44.

The author is having a strop and refusing to develop this any further on Firefox.
It is now and forever disabled on all Firefox builds after v45
He suggests that you use it with the Pale Moon Browser, but its not Firefox!"
Wish I wrote code so I could make my own for Macs like a friend did for Windows.
Thanks again.
IHG still works for me with the latest Firefox update.

I'm using FF 47.0 and IHG has never stopped working for me throughout all of the updates.

Okay. Thanks butler bill and Blackmada. I'll go ahead and update to 47 so I can, at least, get rid of the update nags. This addon may be like the iScooper app in that it's a simple binary and will work on newer OSs and browser updates.

Going to answer my own question from Post #8 in case other people come on here and don't know what an archive is in this respect as I've seen other archives from Parents of file downloads that posters list you can download from if their links are dead.
I think this definition of an archive means .zip and .rar download links that some folk post and are often dead links.
Hope that helps others.
