One million miles to go. New Horizons is approaching Pluto at 30,800 miles per hour (49,600 kilometers)

Pluto and Charon compared with planet Earth; it's really a dwarf planet! Even if it's bigger than previously thought, Pluto is smaller than the Moon.
Pluto has a 2370 km, diameter (18.5% that of Earth's), Charon has a diameter of 1208 km, (9.5% that of Earth's). In comparison the Moon has a diameter of 3,474.8 km ( about 25% that of Earth's)

And the last photo from New Horizons before the close encounter with Pluto. This side of the planet has never been seen before...

I am not much into the "conspiration theories" but it's strange the NASA was publishing at leas one picture a day during the last week, then they publish the last one the day before the final approach from more than 500000 KM distance and now that they have photos taken from only 12000 KM they don't publish or show anything new...

Probably an icy small alien waving from Pluto or even more probable, they were deciding which image could have more impact in the scientific community and in the public

But at last they sent something from a closer distance; mountains and no impact craters! (which means that Pluto is probably geologically active!

The Dark side of Pluto, taken from 2 million Km when New Horizons was speeding away from the dwarf planet.

It is the first photo in History to be taken from that side. It is possible to appreciate the atmosphere glowing in the dark.
As most of the pictures offered by NASA, also this one has been photo-shopped, and all the stars in the background are missing

Planetary Nebula known as The Helix Nebula, also known as The Helix, NGC 7293. In the constellation of Aquarius.

The distance from the Earth is of about 700 light years. Which means that this photo shows it as it was 700 years ago, today it probably looks quite different as nebulae are not stable.

This Nebula is also known as the "Eye of God", and the "Eye of Sauron"

NASA announced that after leaving Pluto, New Horizons will explore another body in the Kuiper belt; «2014 MU69» 160.000 million KM from Pluto, it's so far away that New Horizons will not reach it before 2019

The 'Great Pumpkin': Halloween Asteroid will pass by today 480.000 km from Earth, it's probably a dead comet.

And in the ISS the astronauts also celebrate Halloween
