    1947 First photo of planet Earth from space

    Taken from the skies of New Mexico, California, the camera that would capture the first images of our planet from space was installed by the Americans on a V-2 rocket, a ballistic missile requisitioned from the Germans during World War II. The series was obtained in 1947 from more than 100 kilometers of altitude, thus inaugurating the era of space photography.
    On its return to the surface, rocket and camera were shattered, nevertheless the protected reel in a sheath of steel was saved. In the image you can see the complete sequence of photographs published in 1984 by NASA. The first one would correspond to the one in the lower right corner.Photo: NASA

    The first photo is from 2006, the 2nd and 3rd from 2013 the 4th and the 5th from 2017.

    1.4 billion miles away from our planet...

    The Boeing X-37, also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV), is a reusable unmanned spacecraft. It is boosted into space by a launch vehicle, then re-enters Earth's atmosphere and lands as a spaceplane. The X-37 is operated by the United States Air Force for orbital spaceflight missions intended to demonstrate reusable space technologies.It is a 120%-scaled derivative of the earlier Boeing X-40.

    Just returned from the 4th mission... 718 days in space!

    The f X-37 mission, USA-261, launched on 20 May 2015 and landed On 7 May 2017 at Kennedy Space Center.

    "the Roc"

    The Scaled Composites Model 351, aka "the Roc", is a six-engined aircraft made by Paul Allen’s Stratolaunch Systems
    Stratolaunch Systems, is a mobile launch system with three primary components, a carrier aircraft, a multi-stage booster, and a state-of-the-art mating and integration system.

    The Stratolaunch carrier aircraft, currently in development by Scaled, will be the largest aircraft ever flown. The airlaunch system will provide orbital access to space with greater safety, cost-effectiveness, and flexibility.

    Measuring about 72.5 meters (238 ft) from nose to tail, the aircraft also stands 15.24 meters (50 ft) tall, measured from the ground to the top of the vertical tail. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 589,670 kg (1.3 million lbs), meaning that it is capable of airlifting payloads of up to 249,476 kg (550,000 lbs).
    It measures 117 meters from one end to another of its wings These kinds of payloads mean that it will be capable of flying rockets and heavy space planes to launch altitude. It will be able to launch rockets from a little less than 11 Km of altitude.
