Sally Whittaker (born 30 May 1963 in Middleton, Lancashire) is an English soap opera actress.
She has made a career out of playing Sally Webster (née Seddon), a bad girl turned tame, on the soap opera Coronation Street. She debuted on the serial in January 1986 and has been with the programme ever since. Whittaker had previously trained at Oldham Repertory Theatre and then the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and in 1985 appeared in an episode of the television series Juliet Bravo, playing the problem teenager Wendy Cunningham.
Before winning the role of Sally, Whittaker auditioned for the roles of Sue Clayton and Michelle Robinson. She didn't get either role, but the roles she failed to win were not as long-term as Sally Webster proved to be. The casting directors were interested in the actress, and the role of Sally Seddon was created especially for her.
After first appearing on Corrie, Whittaker was featured in very popular, yet tasteful centrefolds in fan magazines; her popularity soared among men in the British Armed Forces as a result.
Whittaker has three children Phoebe (b. 17 April 1995), Samuel Charles (b. 10 March 1997) and Hatty (b. 2003) with scriptwriter husband Tim Dynevor. The oldest of which, Phoebe Dynevor, is now starring in Waterloo Road as Siobhan Mailey.
