HBO-UFC Negotiations End, No Deal Reached

    this from wrestlingobserver.com:

According to an article in today's MultiChannel News, the negotiations for UFC on HBO have ended without a deal.

"After lots of discussion it became apparent that the business model doesn't make sense for either one of us. So we agreed to go our separate ways," said HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg in a statement. "You never know what the future holds. We have enormous respect and admiration for the executives we dealt with at the UFC. We with them well."

    from the wrestling observer:

WWE's No Mercy pay-per-view is tonight and the big questions surrounding the PPV are who will walk away the next WWE Champion and will Chris Jericho debut? Randy Orton is a strong pick to walk away the Champion, but its really a toss up as to whether or not Jericho will debut at this PPV or Cyber Sunday. The WWE Championship match could turn out to be a multiple wrestler match or some kind of gimmick match.

Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho is being considered as a possibility for the WWE Title match for Sunday Night's main event at the No Mercy pay-per-view.

The ECW Title match with CM Punk and Big Daddy V is expected to be a short match with Punk retaining the title. A run-in from John Morrison is likely.

you know i feel sorry for the ecw announcers cuz they pretty much end up staying there by ringside throughout the whole show. they just call one match and that's that.

*Told you that Jericho wasn't going to be at No Mercy*

After an amazing ppv (the best since Great American Bash '04) we move onto the PPV Checklist:

    Triple H is great...CHECK!

Randy Orton's brief reign as champion over Benoit is forgotten...CHECK!

    Umaga is a midcarder...CHECK!

Hometown wrestler gets buried (CM Punk)...CHECK

No combination of Batista, Khali or bamboo cages should ever appear on PPV...CHECK!

Triple H is one title reign closer to Ric Flair...CHECK!

First good match on PPV for several years doesn't excuse Triple H burying half the active roster (See: Cade, Murdoch, London, Spanky, Booker, Carlito, Umaga, Randy)...CHECK!

    Triple H is great...DOUBLE CHECK!

Bow down to the King (or else you're FIRED!!!)

Triple H is the reason why wwe ratings have slipped....although technically sound he is not and never will be a True Star..in the sense of Stone Cold,The Rock or even that other ego maniac Hulk Hogan. He has been in some of the greatest matches,,,,but it was always his opponent that was the drawing power. His relationship with Vince and his way of burying everyone to satisfy his ego is crazy......and trying to beat the Nature boy's world record haul is another example.

HHH will NEVER be in the class of Ric Flair..Austin..etc or as popular as the Undertaker and deep down he knows it.It is only a matter of time before Jericho is made to look inferior....I personally hate the prick.
Wrestling needs him at the moment while they have a shortage of talent.... which is ironic....since he is the one burying everyone that has a chance to shine.

while i disagree with your first sentence, i do agree with the statement in your second paragraph.

i don't know that there is enough evidence tho as to just exactly how he throws his weight around, even tho he is on the creative team, i don't know that we've ever had any info other than that.

this news courtesy of Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

Since Undertaker returned at Unforgiven last month he has been banged up pretty badly. He worked house shows two weekends ago, but has only done a few matches since returning at the pay-per-view. There has been a vague direction of Undertaker being back if his body can hold up. Before his biceps injury, Taker was scheduled for the longest title run of his career.

Right now the working plan is to have Edge return to wrestle at Survivor Series. Last week WWE estimated he would return in late December/early January.

I get the brit mag Power Slam and it is fairly interesting as all aspects of wwe are covered from the writing staff to the creative etc personal profiles on the stars, their incomes etc....one edition ran a story on how he "thought " burchill is not good enough and how his opinion in the outcome of other matches seemed to take preference......until the suspensions recently the plan had been for orton to win the title....so he then could lose it to HHH...again hhh idea...which of course would see that we are to believe he is the best in the business.
Of course if you are the best..you dont have to tell us...we would know but he is currying favour as usual. If the rock or austin were still here ..would HHH be seen as the top dog..? I dont think so......thats why the Undertaker was moved to smackdown...again an idea which HHH has said in many mags would do wonders for the smackdown audience....because he did not want him to be the most popular babyface ...so he could hog the limelight the selfish pig he is.
I do admit he is a great performer and has great ring skill...but because of his inflated ego people in wrestling circles will always resent him for that.
Edge was also moved to smackdown and who benifits on Raw...? Who became top dog when Angle was sacked and yes he was sacked..?
Lets not forget ..he is not alone...Jesus freak Micheals who lost his smile is no better...when that clique gets together everybody runs the risk of their spiteful beliefs..carlito is now deemed to be a mid carder when his star started to shine thanks to them.
Shelton benjamin another with great talent has suffered because of them.Sadly this is what HHH will be remembered for....not the numerous titles that he decided he should have...and this wont stop until he has surpassed ric flair a true legend.......WHOOOOO.

well, the carlito and benjamin situations were due to their lack of progression, not triple h, from everything i've read.

Or more likely their lack of chance to be allowed progress.....as they are deemed to be not ready ....I wonder who is starting these thoughts.
I reckon he would stop at nothing to enhance his own agenda.

How's it! I have been wrestling (freestyle) for almost 13 years. I have been boxing for 11 years. I have been practicing bjj significatly less time (only 3 years). I got into MMA when a friend of mine fought in the ROF promotion in Colorado. I have had 4 fights in the Kickdown amateur promotion and have a 3-1 record (Wins: 1KO, 2TKO, Loss: 1 SUB [RNC]). Any other fighters in here?

Trips beat Carlito in every match of their program recent program even when Carlito was allowed the No DQ stipulation, kicked out of his Backstabber several times and almost always left him laying dead in the middle of the ring. Where's the room for progression there? You don't have to win matches to get over (See: The Rock, Dudley Boyz and Jericho) but you still have to be booked strongly.

What about the arrogance? HHH said Cena got booed because "Angle and Jericho don't know how to work as a heel!" Trips did so much better in his feud with Marky Mark...

Trips blocked RVD from winning the WWF Title in the threeway with Austin and Angle at No Mercy during the InVasion back in 2001. At the time Trips was at home with his blown out quad and wasn't going to be back for months.

How about CM Punk's winning streak ending immediatly after he commited the sin of getting a bigger pop at Survivor Series than Hunter and HBK?

How about the multiple clean wins over the last year against Cade & Murdoch in various handicap matches? Pedigrees to Spanky and London? The unstoppable Umaga...stopping...a lot! Booker T complaining about going back to RAW because of the politics. Edge requesting not to work a program with HHH and go to Smackdown instead.

It can't be a coincidence that wrestlers only get a sustained main event push by putting as much distance between themselves and McMahon/Levesque as possible...Hell, maybe I'm just paranoid...

Could you imagine the scenario ...HHH and stephanie mac going through a bad patch or breaking up.....would he still get the same treatment of vince....remember when he micheals, diesel and razor broke kayfabe and all got in the ring a few years back..?vince punished HHH by having him lose in 22seconds or something like that to the returning ultimate warrior..as an example...what would he achieve in TNA..?A hostile reception for sure.
Without Vince he would still be a "terra rysing" mid card act......so he better be nice to steph if he wants to be top dog....the crawling muppet.

my opinion as to why the wwe sucks at the moment. john cena is part of the blame. how many people hate this guy? c'mon. creative writing is another. i got tired of tuning in each week just to see that cena still had that title. i used to love watching wrestling and seeing a new champ from time to time. yes there have been long title reigns before but cena's reign was unbelievable. he always seemed to come out at the end because of good luck. i'm thinking that with cena gone things will pick up. after all shawn michaels has finally come back as of last night. edge will return sometime in december or january. chris jericho is set to return on cyber sunday. vince decided not to bring back jericho at no mercy cuz he felt it was too early, although there were others that thought differently. but vince has the final word. i think it'll get better without cena being around holding that title all the time. but you just know it that once he returns he'll get it back. which sux. look what they're going to do with cm punk. morrison is coming back later on tonight on ecw and he'll probably get the title back. what i find funny is how many people hate cena. i'm one by the way, obviously. everytime a promo is shown people boo him. at no mercy when they aired a cena promo the vid was booed heavily. i'm hoping that when cena returns he'll experiance the same thing that happened to big daddy cool diesel. he had just come back and went right out again cuz of an injury. i can't stand seeing cena. that's why i hide his action figures at work so no one will buy them. eventually they go on clearance and i'll buy a few and then burn them while cursing him. they're like little voodoo dolls you know.

    WWE In Major Trouble? Details

Written by Steve Carrier on Oct 10, 2007 - 4:59:12 AM
    Source: F4Wonline.com

What could become a major issue for WWE, sources say WWE and the USA Network haven't been on good terms as of late. Bonne Hammer of USA has been sending 10-20 creative suggestions to WWE on a regular basis. Sources say Vince McMahon gets the messages, reads them and then passes them on to Stephanie and then Brian Gewirtz goes over them during WWE creative meetings and basically puts them down infront of everyone. WWE hasn't considered a single angle USA has proposed, feeling insecure about someone else's ideas working better than their own. Also, they feel if they do start using other people's ideas, they will be pressured to use more and more.

WWE signed their deal with USA on April 4, 2005 which means their three-year deal would expire shortly after WrestleMania 24. Due to WWE's strong numbers, there's pretty much zero chance USA will cancel them but when Bonnie Hammer signed the deal in 2005, she was expecting and paying for ratings in the upper 4's and low 5's. WWE's best numbers as of late have been low 3's and this week they tanked with a 2.8. WWE has very little leverage for negotiations right now and they could end up re-signing a deal for a lot less than what they signed for three years ago. At a time when the company seems to depend on TV as a main revenue generator besides PPV, re-signing for less money could affect WWE overall.
