In a classic case of putting your money where your mouth is, new UFC signee Brock Lesnar," who has made no bones about wanting to fight the best the heavyweight division has to offer ," will make his Octagon debut at UFC 81 on February 2nd against none other than former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir.
The bout will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on the eve of Super Bowl XLII.
“It’s an interesting matchup,” said UFC President Dana White. “Lesnar is a great wrestler, a good athlete, and this is definitely gonna be a big test for him. Frank Mir is a former world champion who is coming off a big win over Antoni Hardonk, and he’s looking to get his career back on track while Lesnar’s looking to walk into the UFC and prove what type of fighter he’s gonna be by trying to knock him off.”
The 6-3 ½, 265 Lesnar (1-0) comes to the UFC with stellar college wrestling credentials that saw him earn All American status four times, win Big Ten Championships twice, and also win the 2000 NCAA National Championship. After leaving the University of Minnesota, the South Dakota-born Lesnar gained fame as a professional wrestler and also had a stint with the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. In 2007, he made his mixed martial arts debut and annihilated Min Soo Kim in just 69 seconds on June 2nd.
“This guy’s not trying to duck anybody,” said White of Lesnar. “He knew once he got in the UFC that he was gonna fight tough guys.”
28 year old Las Vegan Frank Mir (10-3) was destined for stardom from the moment he stepped in the UFC Octagon, and he lived up to all expectations when he submitted Tim Sylvia in 50 seconds in 2004 to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, Mir’s career ground to a halt when a serious motorcycle accident later that year forced him to the sidelines for almost two years. His eagerness to return forced him into some spotty performances when he did return in 2006, but at UFC 74 in August, Mir was back in top notch form as he submitted Antoni Hardonk in just 77 seconds.

i'm not really into the storyline they have edge going through. he'll be making out with vicky guerrero on smackdown. both will be going against batista. this upcoming friday night smackdown will end with vicky getting tombstoned by the undertaker and then going out on a stretcher. not liking it.
as for jericho. they're saying that at armegeddon there'll be a match between jericho and orton for the title. sounds good.

i wouldn't even know anything about that, i didn't watch smackdown for over a year it sucked so bad until last week. i didn't have anything to do but it didn't seem a whole lot better to me...
as for the y2j thing, sounds good to me too.

Great RAW last night, reminded me why I started watching wrestling in the first place; it's FUN!
Anyway, here's some random thoughs on last nights show:
- I love Sunny!!! Note to Vince: PLEASE rehire Sunny; put her in the mix with Cade/Murdoch vs Cody/Sparkplugg or have her managing Beth Pheonix. She's talented enough on the mike and at ringside to get these non-existant feuds over.
- Everybody rags on TNA for having these segments directed at the internet rather than the live audience but WWE is just as bad. We get it! HHH is married to Stephanie McBigTitts. Enough veiled references.
- Am I the only one who thought the Ladder Match was pretty weak?
- HBK is funny as hell. Oh great, Marty Jannetty's back...
- RVD is back!!! Santino is a jobber. 'Nuff said.
- Bad night for Randy. Punked out by Evolution, runs away from Evolution. Runs into the Liontamer later on the show. And he's the WWE Champion?!
- No Lita with Edge, Grrr!
- I'm gonna guess "Umaga". Yep, I was right.
- Molly Holly back on tv with Mickie James; it's ass-tastic!
- Why is Hulk Hogan wearing black and white? I was half expecting Scott Hall to come out with him.
- Can Hogan slam the Great Khali? Well...Kane did at Wrestlemania so why not?
- How cool was it listening to the Immortal Ego of Hulk Hogan kissing WWE ass in that promo
- What does everybody want? HEAD!!!
- Steve Blackman, really?! Never mind, it's PETE GAS!!! Flash Funk! I'm in jobber heaven!
- Is Jim Neidhart's belly trying to eat his outfit?
- Marked out for DiBiase buying the win in the Battle Royal (never did work for him in the Royal Rumble though)
- Bischoff, Jericho and Orton...three of the most buried performers on RAW.
- Dusty Rhodes on commentary! Sparky Plugg wins the tag titles and Cody Rhodes is there too.
- Jillian makes me wince but she's very funny. Should've had her singing a Brooke Hogan song tonight. Trish's cleavage is going to explode. And now Lita and her rapidly expanding ass have arrived. It's one of those nights where it's good to be a man.
- One of the first funny "DAMN" segments in months.
- Ken Kennedy vs Marty Jannetty = slow crowd death. Never thought I'd be hoping for a run-in by Leif Cassidy
- Rockers, Evolution, DX...it's a busy night for factions.
- Mr Socko! No Tombstone, BOO! Stunner! Regal drinking a coke! HHH pouring beer on Mickie James! CM Punk on RAW?
- WOW! Kurt Angle, Dudley Boyz, Jeff Jarrett and the Outsiders shown in vignettes!

Prior to the release of Brooke Adams and the eventual demise of Extreme Expose, WWE had plans of putting Kelly Kelly, Layla, and Brooke in Playboy just before WrestleMania next year. Obviously those plans have been scrapped. Brooke recently announced on her MySpace.com web site that she will still be posing for the publication. There are rumors that she will be heading to TNA Wrestling in the near future.
i had to look her up to see who she was, cuz i never watch ecw, lol

On a side note, why is everyone so upset about seeing Vicki Guerrero making out with Edge?! Don't get me wrong, it's not exactly my idea of a great night in but nobody seems to mind watching an elderly Vince McMahon making out with an endless string of blondes but one middle aged woman gets hold of a younger guy and it's some kind of outrage

i think it's cuz there are many who still see her as eddie's wife and feel very uncomfortable when she's doing that. the wwe supposedly went with this storyline after they felt that plenty of time has passed since eddie's death and that no one would be bothered with it. they were wrong it does bother some folks. maybe some peeps felt they had some kind of bond with eddie and when they see vicki kissing edge it's like they're watching they're friend's wife making out with someone else.
with vince his wife is alive and she doesn't seem to mind that he makes out with every blonde that walks in his office since it's all part of his "mr. mcmahon" character.
it's being said that the vicki storyline won't be a long one and that teddy long will be full GM again. but vicki won't be gone she'll still play some kind of part in some storyline.
what i find funny is the stuff happening at TNA. dixie carter offered everyone who is an undercard the chance to call it quits and terminate their contract. only two took the offer, senshi and ron killings. senshi's last show is coming up. but tna has been finding out that other undercards have been contacting other promotions now and are not happy with it. not only that but there has been word at tna that team 3d is going to be leaving the company soon some time next month. they have vocally expressed interest in going back to the wwe. so far team 3d's storyline is still going through with their fued against division x.

It wasn't just the undercard, it was everybody. As for the "unnamed others", that I take with a pinch of salt. Everybody had been talking about Low Ki and The Truth wanting to leave for months, now they're gone and suddenly there are some more mystery wrestlers who want away too. The only others I've heard of as being unhappy are LAX (Homicide & Hernandez) and they're due a push with the arrival of Shelly Martinez as their valet and a feud with AJ Styles & Tomko for the tag titles.
